Oh dear! Neither 14 nor 22 fit my theme. Perhaps I'm being too narrow with it.

Several still not parsed, but only 9a not filled in. Could I have a hint, please?

Nearly all fit my theme, but 3 don't seem to - 22, 14, and 20. Am I missing something?

‘All of part of Britain’ means a dialect word for ‘all’ then the language of that same area. Ties in a sartorial sense.

I’d say those other three clues all have a thematic component.

9a is quite tricky and hard to explain without spoilers, chrise.
Def is 1st word, and the solution is an example. Parses as 1,5 and it’s a thematic.

My theme must be wrong, then, because the ones I mentioned don't fit, and I'm confident that my 14 and 22 are correct (not so about 20!).

Yes, as jono says, 22, 14 and 20 are all thematic - but not all the clues are, so I wonder whether you have the right theme, chrise.

For example, the clue at 13 is not thematic, though the theme features heavily in the solution.

Ok, my theme was the first letter or two letters were symbols of elements. Back to the drawing board!

Terrific puzzle from Brendan. Very enjoyable. I have four left, none of which are screaming out but then I may have missed the parsing.
