This was one of the most enjoyable cryptics I've ever done. It hit the sweet spot where I successfully finished it (though had to use a crossword helper to look up candidate words for the last three or four clues), but I felt like I was at the limits of my solving ability.

Nice one Brendan.

Only just getting my teeth into this and I have to say this is definitely trickier than Brendan's usual offerings.

So far my grid is full of semi-parsed solutions and complete hail mary guesses. Good fun though. I'll be back later once I've made some solid progress

After a long struggle nearly finished but I am not at all sure about my answer for 5d and therefore cannot get 11. Any hints would be most welcome.

Hi Neville,
It’s meet as in satisfy.

Forgot to ask if anyone can parse 12a. I cannot make sense of 'arrives in flurry'.

(I guess my guess is that the first bit has an insertion of 1 in 4, but I am not sure why the 1 can be shortened in this way except insofar as it fits with the theme.)

I did wonder about the 1 in 12a as it’s not in Chambers, but it is in the ODE noted as relating to travel timetables.

[I see some functionality changes on the Observer site today. Archives include all my previous completed grids (and times, not that I care much about those) and there is now a submission option on both Everyman and Azed which requires an email address to be provided.]
