The clues...
Requests for help should normally include the clue itself, the number of letters in the answer, and details of any you already have. Any additional information or special instructions, common in Listener puzzles, should also be included.
HINTS only, please, no answers.

The theme...
Help towards the theme may also be sought here. The assistance given should be fairly gentle in nature - just a nudge, a pointer in the right direction, and certainly not anything which would spoil the puzzle for others. Any posts which, even inadvertently, reveal too much of the theme, will be removed.

The Listener is a unique puzzle and should be treated with respect.

Usually a Carte Blanche has rather easier clues, but not this time, at least for me. Only eight solved, with three potentially intersecting in the NE corner. I will be back for help soon!

Wow! Very tough. Nice to have a change of topic, although I still needed to look up the quote.

Had one answer in the wrong place for a long time, which didn't help. Also kept second-guessing myself on the overall layout. I got the NE and SE faster than the rest. And, my, it got a fair bit easier (as in less impossible) when I found the title.

Probably an appropriate level of difficulty, given the theme.

Thanks, Phi!

Yes, the topic changed last week. Perhaps I'm scarred?

Having identified the book and despite making some headway in solving the clues, I am well on the way to filing this under 'life's too short'.

Planks, I promise you that it's worth it. The book should give you enough.

I also have the book, but cannot identify the quotation. However, I have bigger problems. Firstly, my NE, SW and SE quadrants virtually full but my NW quadrant is virtually empty. Secondly, I cannot possibly see how I will end up with 22 blank cells. Finally hints on 3rd from and final down clues would help.

Once you have the book, the precise wording of the preamble should suggest exactly where to look for the quotation.

last down clue - definition at start and it’s a hidden hidden

3rd from last - definition at end and wordplay is made up of a couple of crossword staples

Re extra letters ensure you don’t enter any answers twice
