Last 4 letters.

Quite a challenge and not totally satisfying. I wouldn't describe the current editor of the newspaper the crossword is in and a previous well known one of same newspaper as obscure. Unless outside UK, I guess.

Starting to think I may have got one wrong (possibly 1d, which I really don’t understand). But am I right in thinking that there is—ahem—no “F” in pangram?

Just checked my grid and 'f' & 'z' are not present for a pangram

(Assuming my answers are correct, though so ymmv)

He's not the current editor.
This puzzle is a good example of why I often consider not attempting a Paul (though I generally do!)

I think three Guardian editors are present, two former and the current one.

Never heard of the current one - I found an obscure Ed instead!

Hi everyone

Started late as usual and got two straight away - 9ac and 10ac. After an hour, I'd only got two more. I've one or two more now, but not enough to zoom me forwards. I've just googled British editors, but it hasn't helped. I looked up old Italian newspapers, but that didn't help. I can't even see where Katharine Viner fits.

I got 20ac, but don't know why. I can't see 15ac even with the crossers.

It's a bit hot to continue banging my head against a brick wall, although at least here on the peninsula the temperature is a bit lower than London.

Perhaps I can have a hint for 11ac. It may get me going again.

Hi Roof,
Taking steps (7 letters) goes around one street (1+2 letters).
Think of ‘old Italian’ separately from newspaper.

Yep, it sure is hot here in London!

Hi roof
Where is all this hot weather? It's not especially hot here in Yorkshire/Lancashire border.

11 Definition is Detachment. Put a word for "taking steps" around abbreviations for "one street".
