The theme...
Help towards the theme may be sought here. The help given should be fairly gentle in nature, just a nudge or a pointer in the right direction - and definitely not anything that would spoil the puzzle for others. Any posts which, even inadvertently, reveal too much of the theme are likely to be removed.

The Listener is a unique puzzle and should be treated with respect.

Enjoyable puzzle, thanks to JFD. Found it quite difficult to finish the endgame - got there in the end!

I've got 16 of the 20 letters, I think. But two resultant words aren't in Chambers. And it's all a bit of a GWIT. So not enjoyable for me so far.

Pity, because it's a neat idea. Just way too loose.

Unless, of couse, I've missed a huge PDM.

I found that there weren’t that many options bearing in mind that the real words constraint

And thanks to my brother I now have the solution.

My 16 letters were wrong, and the words are all in Chambers. But I still think that this is far too much of a GWIT endgame.

CD - I agree - one of mine isn't in Chambers.

All of mine are in Chambers. And they are all words I've heard of before, except the five-letter one in the south-east.

By that I mean the non-thematic modified entries. Surely the others don't need to be in Chambers? They are definitely real words.

Ok understood. Agreed they don’t need to be. Think I just misunderstood the first comment on the topic
