I didn’t find one in 27 but I may be wrong. I’m sure you missed one just before that though and there is one toward the end.

My previous post was for williamseal. I now realize I have all 8, so Im sure 27 does not have an extra word.

Quixote, I was stumped by 16 too, but the light bulb just went on. Play around with the last four letters of the clue answer.

Did this today and quickly before resorting to this site for confirmation from the troublesome 16d unchecked letter. Reading the clue literally I’m favouring 12 (in terms of another clue). Am I right? I’ve justified it to myself and can’t see another way now - always the problem.

rickye, if its the clue i think you mean, not its not 12 - a little lower.

williamseal, you are missing the last missing word, near the end of the clues (and per an earlier hint from hw7, will form a word if you combine with the 7th missing word).

williamseal - sorry just saw you dont yet have the 7th missing word either.

Thanks for your help friends. Don't want to be a pain but am still struggling. Is there a surplus word in 26 down and is it the 7th? I've identified the 8th (I think) and it fits with the HW hint.

I've got a feeling I'm making heavy weather of this (unlike Arsenal, thank goodness).

26dn is normal - 7th extra word is a little bit earlier (and remember it has to form a word when combined with the 8th)

Now have missing words seven and eight and actually seen the clever way to complete the grid. I even understand 16 down. Well done Woracle! I'm assuming 21down has a surplus word and will stay awake looking for the fifth. Now off to watch Gold with Mrs Seal.
