Interesting to see Norah appearing as a Fairy - albeit not the relevant one!

I'm in the same boat as cockie. The basic solve and the first two steps of the postlude took much less than an hour, but for the final step I'm too fixated on looking for (1,4,3) or (1,4,5,3) and can't find either. One of those GWIT (GWFT) interludes.

Relax, there’s no rush! The puzzle has been out for three hours, and you have three more weeks before the solution is published

Glad I'm not the only one, throck. There are two very obvious letters which, if changed, suit the theme perfectly. Alas they give rise to two non-words crossing, so red herring time. Still, there's a prom soon to take my mind off it.

We're in the same boat over here, Cockie & Throck! Would be interested to know if anyone else cracks it soon :)

Also - first time poster... hello all! :)

Two letters have to be changed in the final stage and the final grid contains real words. Hold that thought!

I was in the same boat as others, reaching the very last stage and wondering what to do. My solution, which I would refer to VAR if necessary, manages the desired consequence to the thematic "extension" by changing two letters to give another version of the item, meeting the expected effect of truth.
The grid indeed only has real words in my version, so I'm happy with that and can go to bed easy in mind.

After some initial head scratching, I reached a similar conclusion Zabadak. I’m relieved you have too. And I think VAR will agree :)

Ixion, the 'gripping instrument' has 4 letters. The 'work' could be on a farm.
