Hi Ronpegram,

I’m with you on the parsing of 2d, 8a I can’t account for the 4th letter…. 11a I think is occasional letters of heard inside a familiar name for a famous London museum (named after an old queen and her man!)

I’m almost there - slowly but surely…. Can’t get 19a or d!

24a is a homophone, defn. "help", sounds like "victim of trick".

Thanks Geeker. I got 24ac quickly, but 10d eludes me. I'm not sure what clever writing is.

Thanks ChrisE. Not difficult once you see them!. I actually had a PDM for 11a as soon as I had posted - having wasted ages looking for a homophone thanks to "heard" - a clever piece of misdirection by Vlad.

roof, it's a bit of a clumsy word that I'm not sure I've seen before. Try breaking it down into pieces: your crossers suggest an ending of "ery". Prior pieces are 4 (raw material a writer uses, sing.) + 5 (someone who works with a raw material).
