Love the reference to Prize Crossy 24779, the similarities are brilliant. If you get chance what a clue 8 down is in that crossword. Loved today's by the way. I have a framed picture on my kitchen wall with many of the ticket stubs from festivals and gigs I have been to. Really missing live music at the mo.

@StevieC, oh my! I don’t think the Guardian would allow that these days!

Hi FemmeNoire. It was, and remains, an iconic event for those of us who lived through those times although, living on the east of the Pond, I was unable to attend. First of its kind and a 'template' for those that came later, both in terms of what, and what not, to do! I can see why it might be something less than iconic to those who came later.

One for the boomers this week so made me smile. I got 10,25 from the clue and a couple of crossers. A bit of a guess but easily verified from the performers clues. COD 5d which is distinctly Pauline methinks. Huge thanks to the setter.

As ever, I am arriving late, having spent the morning shovelling muck on my veg patch. Thank you Brendan for directing attention to 17a - I got that and therefore 10,25, so am hoping the rest will fall into place! FOI: 14a

Thanks for the hints and explanations. Oops meant 8a I need better glasses. Got it now - lovely misdirect “does”. Interesting Indian study “nerd immunity” shows glasses wearers 2-3x less likely to get covid, wow!

Simond9x, thanks for the info re first of its type. It makes sense now

Take care everyone and have a great weekend

fatal is a bit of an overstatement. it's an anagram, a cricket reference

Thanks for those hints. Finished it now but still a bit meh about the whole thing. Maybe it just doesn't mean much to me and I prefer more smuttiness and toilet references from Paul!
