The "git" usage in 23a is kind of a (southern/western, slang) Americanism. Maybe not covered in Chambers (which I don't own).
I was only 12 when (10, 25) occurred and living in the Midwest. Too young for it to register, too far to look in out of curiosity.
Agreed on JJ, but any short sublist of participants is likely to be polarizing. :)

My curser seemed to work ok for the 11,3,2 clue. It's early here and although I got 10,25 through 17a like Brendan I must confess I don't get the clue yet. It's drawn a bleary eyed blank. I also learned something. I didn't know 22a were there. Pressing on and enjoying it so far.

Enjoyed this. Took ages to understand the last two words of 10,25 but the PD’d just as was typing this. Paul hinted at a broader theme a few days ago and I can see that in this reference and in ‘git’, but probably I’m missing more

well, i've guessed 10,25 from a couple of other entries, but can't see a definition, or how the 25 bit is made.
foi was 22d - offaly! took some time to find out that aly isn't a mediterranean city...

10,25 took me ages too. Think tree, then a word for common, then the last bit refers to a certain bird in a ‘strip’
