Lumen, for Didactic... there's a common 'long' (verb) inside an abbreviation for 'territory'.

Hi Lumen,

didactic person - 4 letters for "long" inside a 3 letter abbr. of "territory".

Mars group - 4 letter counterpart of "Mars" + 3 letter "group" both reversed - definition is an ancient/"expired" word for "ticket".

if you take a 2 letter abbr. of "special" from the horse you mention you have a word meaning "this convention" - I had to have this explained to me as well, by Ginge.
