I’m still working on that fgsltw. On one of my many jaunts down wrong paths I thought I had something... the first word from the extra downs took me to A Midsummer Night’s Dream and I worked out that G was the middle letter of ‘summer night's dream’!

I’ve finally completed the tricky endgame having scratched my head over the mirror symmetry (I was trying to make 8 of the letters in each word symmetrical about a diagonal line before I spotted it at last). And creating the 10 new words took longer than it should’ve done.

There’s only one I can’t parse if any of you good folk can help me and that’s 36a. Thanks

Think of the title of the relevant episode as wordplay.

merenz, the L goes into save, a 5 letter word for this minus the third of Titian, last word is the def I think.

Many thanks Planks. I seemed to have got hung up on a third representing a fraction rather than the letter placement. D’oh! Thanks again

Of the three vowels available to you monkjunk only one can go with 32d, then only one of the two left can go with 42d leaving only one left for the N. The BRB should confirm it

You shouldn’t have an N left monkjunk. You need that for the writer’s surname

I think it is cleverer than a fundamental constant foinavon. If the Google the title of the episode of the show that contains our scene you will see what I mean.
