planks, 15a hints do not clarify much for me.
What is windowsin the word play.
I assume first two letters are the def.

More please.

Sunray, def is first two words, 'lead' is extra 'eg aluminium and windows minus L for line'. and 'the' is involved. I don't think I can say more without giving the answer. I'm happy to do so if you email pat.lankshear@btinternet.com. Hope this helps

I got it now.
The word completely is relevant.
And finally understood e.g. aluminium.
Chambers wizard does not give that word.

This is frying my brain; I can't reconcile the round solutions with entries engendered by the others. For example, at 11 round I have a solution that doesn't contain a D but its circle contains a D from 2 descending. Similarly at 13 round I have a solution with one E, but its circle already has three of the buggers!

Am I going bonkers?

As was mentioned earlier, the 12 cells you need are the ones inside the ring of convex cells. So for 11, eg, the D is irrelevant.

bobbycollins, no D in 11.The D from 2d doesn't fit in the circle of twelve letters, it's round the perimeter of them. Similarly the E's for 13.
