Interesting Times crossword today, for this thread. "Esquire" for the men, a pie clue for me, and a topical "endless"one.

yes and a SA/IT clue for Malone. The setter clearly had this thread in mind when he set it

Grunger, Jigjag

I too noticed 'Esquire' but didn't really appreciate it popping in - I was too busy being annoyed about SA/It. Maybe I shouldn't be too harsh. Nostalgia can be good at times... though I honestly don't know when SA/It was in everyday use.

The setters in the Times are still goading me. From today's puzzle...

Medic becoming enmeshed in sex scandal (4)

Jigjag, Grunger, Tyke et al...

I thought this clue, also from today's puzzle, was another one out to get me...

26 Unlimited time in the past for last phase of cricket (5)

I was wrong, I'm pleased to say!

sorry to post so late - been at football all day.

Is it "dirt" dr enmeshed with it?

Yes, the Times policy is to deliberately goad you. As you have said, "it" is well out-of-date.

I have not heard "it" used to mean sex, or sex appeal, for about 30 years. Nor have I ever heard of SA meaning sex appeal.

I am falling asleep so will have to look at the other clue tomorrow.

Thanks for keeping me up!

I can see the `cricket` clue is insect related - got an answer but not sure where `unlimited` comes in - although it does contain the first part of my answer!
