16a P in G sounds correct until you try to add ICT to 3d.
Could the entry be PNIG?

Kirky. I have FE?E for 9d.

My Scottish is bad. I think Fere may mean BOLD, but not sure.

Thanks kirky. Very clever.

It would help if some dictionary showed the meaning as keenness of perception.

Chambers shows the meaning as spouse.

I finally managed to get back to this today and am now down to my last two, 6 down and 12 down. I presume the extra word in 6 down is promoted and that the answer is an anagram of fresh round a word for old age. The trouble is I cannot for the life of me think of the word for old age. 12 down must be in alphabetical order so is the original answer so?a or soa? A final push to get me over the line would be much appreciated.

Have just managed to get 6 down. A big hint for 12 down would be much appreciated.

Alwayspuzzled, in 12d, soup is the sig word, and the def is an archaic word for item.

I'm puzzled by 30d still. I know it's been mentioned before, but...
I can see that 'c over t' is the sig word and that L in KIT is an Irish term for killed, but what happens to the L in the entry?

the entry becomes kiTlt (kilt needs to envelop/cover the T)

Thank you Cloverjo. A new definition to me of a familiar word.
