I just wanted to log in and say how happy I am that the Inquisitor will continue in a new slot from now on. I was feeling I would lose contact with all you aficionados whose names I have become so familiar with. I think today's preamble sounds daunting but I guess you clever folks have got to grips already?

I heartily agree with you - I so look forward to the Inquisitor. I also agree that I'm completely lost with today's offering!

Me too! The Inquisitor has been a joy for so long. Always entertaining.

Today's has lots of anagrams, as far as I can tell. Then fitting them together would be the trick, I think.

First time I've ever come across this type of puzzle and I have to say that I have absolutely no idea what the preamble is on about or what I am meant to do! Any tips or clarification would be gratefully received!!

I couldn't make any sense whatsoever of the preamble, so decided to give up-before I'd really got started!

Hi all,

This is one of those puzzles in which I think everything will fall into place eventually...but I'm still staring and waiting !

I have several answers but without answer lengths, any idea where the blank cells are and no idea what a 90 degree rotation means (move a letter to the left, right, up or down ?) and what is clearly obscure wordplay in many clues, this is borderline unfair in my opinion. It certainly does not encourage anyone with limited time to keep going .....shame.

I have no idea about the 90 degree rotation and as for the down clues.....how can the columns contain two answers? Two answers from one clue?? I am feeling very discouraged too Muraria
