Hi, Rusty!
Have you had a good viewing day?
I hope you managed to watch all that you wanted.
What an afternoon!
I was pleased that Roger got through.
But it was very sad that Richard Gasquet had to retire with a back injury when playing J-W Tsonga.
Now Tsonga goes on to play Andy Murray, who put out Nick Kyrgios, in the quarter- finals.
Was there some sort of problem with Kyrgios? I didn't see the match myself, but I have heard references about his "antics" during the match?
I hear he refuses to have a coach.
Martina Hingis and Leander Paes are at present playing on Court One if you can get that (I can't! )
I am watching Berdych and Vesely .
How did your cycling go today?

Rusty, I agree with you (and apparently Chambers) that a singlet is a vest - and not a jersey. I also saw earn/urn, but we're on a loser with that one. I think it was Elle who checked the pronunciation in Chambers the last time this appeared and the earn=urn (sound) exists. You and I might not use it, but it seems to be legitimate.

Elle, the only problem with Krygios this evening was his attitude! He played wonderfully well in the first set, but when Murray broke him at the end of that, Kyrgios just... disintegrated really. He played some truly dreadful shots and he seemed to lose all interest. It was infuriating - and also very sad. He has a huge talent, but doesn't seem to want to learn how to make the most of it.

Hello, Elle!
I have watched more than enough.
I find televiewing quite tiring, so I have had enough for today.
I will leave Miss Hingis and partner for another day.
I did not see Kyrgios today.
I watched Venus Williams for a while, and two Eastern European ladies whose names have not stuck.
They were fine players.
I was going to watch Serena but they retired because of rain and I switched to cycling.
I think Wimbledon has cornered the market for rain!
The cycling was very boring.
They just ambled along like a Sunday club run.
The "race" finished way down on schedule.
Thankfully Thomas Voeckler livened things up by attacking.
I do like to see all the beautiful chateaux and other interesting things on the way.
We are always learning, on the roads of the Tour de France!

Hey, Rusty!
I am sorry that the cycling today was disappointing in itself, but I do agree that it is very interesting to see the surroundings, and learn something of the local history.
That - apart from a wish to understand the "game" - was what prompted me to watch on occasions last year.
Incredible that it rained again at Wimbledon! It's been a lovely day here!
I have been watching the tennis highlights.
What a fantastic match between Ms. Radwanska and Ms.Cibulkova!
Neither deserved to lose!
I watched highlights of Andy playing Nick Kyrgios.
I see now what the commentators meant - Kyrgios just seemed to lose interest in the game.
I was afraid when I heard them talking earlier about his attitude that he had been fined again for his behaviour.
I am so glad that it wasn't anything like that as that would have spoiled the tone of the match.
Too much television - it is now switched off!

Hello, Malone!
Thank you for the low-down on Krygios - I was relieved to hear that was all it was!
I feared another fine or some such.
Yes, "earn " and "urn" sound exactly the same to me!

Hello, Elle!
How can "earn" and "urn" sound the same?
One starts with an "e" sound, the other with a "u" sound.
Or do we have a superfluous letter in the alphabet?
My TV is off too.
Yes, there is lots to see in le Tour.
And the locals make an effort, which is good.
We had "tricolored" cows today!
Right, now that Lucie and Kyrgios are out, I shall concentrate on Miss Hingis and partner(s) in the doubles.
The doubles are good fun!
The cycling will get better as we near the mountains.
I think there may be words said tonight to the riders by their sponsors.
They like their riders getting into breaks and consequently have their sponsors names on TV.

Hi, Rusty!
Try these two links......to my untutored ear , both words sound exactly alike!
I certainly say them in the same way!
http://dictionary.cambridge.org/pronunciation/english/earn
http://dictionary.cambridge.org/pronunciation/english/urn
I hope it works!
I don't think Mr. R takes a Scottish accent into account!
Martina and Leander Paes won their match two sets to nil.
They are a good combination so hopefully will do well.
Yes, the mountain views were wonderful, I remember.......I enjoyed that part of the cycling!!
We have the dentist tomorrow - for our six- monthly checkups.

Hello, Elle!
They sound identical to me, but she has missed out the "r" sound!
You would think they would get someone who can speak properly to do it. But I am sure she is doing her best!
I had my 6 month check recently.
And I have a hospital appointment tomorrow, too.
It is an "open" one. Lasts up to a year.
So I thought I would go along.
May run into La Bamba. She works in the hospital.
It is a 15 minute walk, uphill all the way!

Good morning , Rusty!
No sunshine so far this morning! In fact, very dark now....may rain?
Our dental appointment is at 11am; this means leaving home at 10.30am
Unlike your hospital appointment, it is not walkable to the dentist.
Miss La Bamba is still at University, isn't she? Is the hospital job a part of her course, or does she work there to help pay for her keep whilst at Uni?
She won't, of course, have Uni tuition fees, being in Scotland?
What does she do at the hospital?
What plans do you have for the day, other than the hospital check?
(At least, it will be downhill all the way back!)

Good afternoon, Elle!
Fine day here!
La Bamba is helping out her friend at hospital.
Just a temp job.
No fees I do not think.
Just home from hospital.
All's well!
Having a canny day at home now.

Good afternoon, Rusty!
I am glad that all went well at the hospital.
Are you "signed off" now, or do you have to go back again at a later date?
Our day has turned out bright and sunny and very warm.
We are doing well with our weather, judging by complaints from friends in less fortunate areas.
There doesn't appear to be anyone of particular note to watch tennis- wise, right now, so I shall go out for a walk with the dog , and then watch whatever tennis is in motion when I return!
Are you watching le Tour?
What is today's route?
