Hi, Rusty!
Right........update......
Laura Muir won the British Championship title in the Women's 1500m; Laura Weightman came 2nd
The two of them will automatically go to Rio.
(Well done , the Lauras!)
In the women's 5000m..... Stephanie Twell came 1st;
Eilish McColgan was 2nd; Laura Whittle 3rd.
Steph and Eilish go to Rio.
Other automatic qualifications for Rio, by virtue of coming 1st and 2nd in their races are......
Matthew Hudson- Smith and Rabat Youssif in the Men's 400m.
Dina Asher Smith and Desiree Henry in the Women's 200m
Jazmin Saunders and Shara Proctor in the Women's Long Jump
Andrew Pozzi and Lawrence Clarke in the 110 m hurdles.
Adam Gemili and Danny Talbot in the 400m.
Charlie Grice and Chris O'Hare in the 1500m
(Jake Wightman came third; Tom Lancashire fell)
In the Women's Steeplechase, Rosie Clarke took the British Championship title from Lennie Waite, but Lennie will go to Rio, as she has the qualifying time. Rosie will either have to get the time very soon, or rely upon the discretion of the Selection team
And lastly, your bete noire, Lynsey Sharp, lost her title to Shelayna Oskan-Clarke , but both will go to Rio.
Other placings will depend upon the Selection team.
If I've left any event out - and I probably have - I'll try to remember if you ask me!

Hello, Elle!
That's great, thank you!
Pleased for Eilish, she has lots of metal screws etc in one foot but has grit...like her Mum!
Well done the Lauras, indeed!
I shall say nothing about Miss Sharp.
So, did you enjoy your afternoon of athletics?
I managed to follow cycling using Eurosport and Twitter.
Hannah Barnes just pipped her sister, Alice, for British title, and Adam Blythe won the mens' road race. He beat Cav in the sprint.
Quite hectic, all this sport!

Hi, Rusty!
Steph Twell also bears a lot of metal screws in her (left) foot, following a bad injury.
It was good to see her do so well today.
Yes, thank you, I really enjoyed watching the Athletics throughout all the afternoon.
I was disturbed in the middle by a phone call from my daughter...... I love talking to her and she rings a lot, which is great...... but preferably not in the middle of the British Championships!
Ah well, priorities! family comes first!
I'm glad that you enjoyed the cycling.
Yes, very tiring all this sport....I'm worn out with throwing the javelin!
oh, speaking of the javelin....
Jo Blair won , Goldie Sayers came second.

Hello, Elle!
Yes, family is top priority!
Your daughter would have been looking forward to a chat with her Mum!
Now, have you got all your Red Buttons sorted out for Wimbledon?
Normally there is a choice of which match to watch.
The sport is hectic to keep up with.
Eurosport can be baffling.
I switched on for the French cycling and canoeing was on!
They were running a bit late!

Hey, Rusty!
I have been chatting to my cousin. They have been having rain up there.
Red buttons can be baffling, too.
Every time I access one, I find a football match......?
By and large, we get good coverage from the BBC during Wimbledon fortnight.
The only problem arises is if a Brit is playing........then all other matches disappear from the screen like magic, and one is forced to watch one's fellow countryman play.
This is fine if one is watching the Davis cup, but to me Wimbledon is non -partisan and I like to watch the top players compete regardless of nationality.
Play starts from 11.30 am each day, I think.
This coming week I shall endeavour to carry on life as normal - the following week, I shall become a recluse and refuse to go out!
And Finals days are sacrosanct!
How was the cycling?

Hello, Elle
Cycling was so-so.
Le Tour starts soon.
I am a bit intrigued by the first stage.
It starts at Mont-Saint-Michel (my favourite place on the Tour) and finishes at Utah Beach, which sounds intriguing, to me, anyway.
Maybe we shall get a bit of history along with the race commentary?
Now, Wimbledon/Red Button.
You should have a choice on Red Button of several courts to watch a game from. Usually, Centre Court, No 1 Court, and two or three of the other courts. You choose which court on Red Button.
Bit like the golf, when you can choose which group to follow, etc.
Any problems, post on here, and someone (Malone!) will assist you.
Or, grab hold of a teenager!

Elle, I'm getting a little concerned about your tv and/or your Freeview box. You mentioned that 'if a Brit is playing...then all other matches disappear from the screen and one is forced to watch...' All other matches? Really? I know you're aware of the Red Button and I know there are frequently matches on three, four and sometimes five channels (BBC 1,2 and three of the RB ones). I don't think you're ever forced to watch your fellow countrymen play - if you want to avoid Andy Murray, or Kyle Edmund (or Laura Robson or Heather Watson), you can do that quite easily.

Malone, I feel you are not grasping the point I was making.
I do not think that it is necessary to support one's country in a tournament like Wimbledon, where the players are playing for their own personal satisfaction and not as representatives of their country.
I like to watch tennis players of all nationalities.

Good morning, Rusty!
Our walk started off wet this morning, but the rain has now ceased and the sun is attempting (feebly) to come through.
Warmish still.
I am rather looking forward to Le Tour to see if I can remember what you taught me, and to see whether I can still understand it all!
Utah Beach was a code name for one of the Normandy Landings, in World War II, wasn't it?
Yes, hopefully you are right, and we may get some history thrown in as well.
I have to smile at your "Grab a teenager" to solve all technical problems!
Do you have shares in them or something.........."Rent -a- Teenager".com ?
Not a bad idea....
Do you have any plans for today?
Is it fine up there?

Good day, Elle!
Bit cooler here.
I think what Malone means is that YOU call the shots regarding which match you watch, on Red Button.
You have several options.
For instance if British Heather Watson is on Centre Court, and British Andy Murray is on Court One, although BBC quite naturally concentrates on these players, Red Button offers other alternatives. You may watch someone else on Court 5 or Court 8, for instance.
I am going to try and find Sarafova and Kyrgios on Red Button.
Must keep an eye on my ten bob each way!
Lots of wing stretching going on at the loch today!
