Hi Elle
I do agree that watching tennis who ever is playing is a pleasure but the over hype regarding Mr M is too much. There are plenty of very good players who are ignored especially by the BBC.He is merely another tennis player

Hello, Elle!
Posts crossed!
Yes, Utah Beach was one of the landing sites.
I am sure that somewhere I read that 850,000 troops came ashore, but that may at all the designated beaches.
Yes, it is cloudy and cooler here today.
I was out earlier (did crossword on line at 7.00 today!) and am planless for the rest of the day.
May investigate tumbly dryers.
Mine has a hose that I hang out of my window but the hose is fairly knackered, so I shall pick a brain or two.
Not sure that the young ones would be much help though!

Hi, Rusty!
I am very impressed by your doing the crossword at 7am!
I haven't even printed mine out yet!
Now, tumbler dryers......
Have you thought of buying one with a condenser?
This is built into the tumbler dryer and all you have to do is empty the container of water when a red light shows.
It is simple. I have been very pleased with mine (which is a Hotpoint - and no, I don't have shares in the firm!)
Coincidentally, my younger daughter bought the same make and model as I did, and neither knew that the other was so doing.
Spooky or what?

Hello, Doglet!
Did you enjoy the Athletics yesterday?
It was good to have several hours to watch, wasn't it? rather than the very rushed 'highlights' to which we have been subjected of late.
I do hope that the odd competitor who won an automatic qualification for Rio by virtue of being in the first two of their event, but didn't have the qualifying times yet, fulfil the time requirements before the end date.
Otherwise, they will have to hope for a 'discretionary' decision by the Selection Panel.

Hello, Elle,
I had heard of condenser tumbly dryers but did not know what they were.
They sound better than the vent-hose type.
Less of a scutter.
My daughter-in-law suggested condenser, too.
Do they all have a red light warning?
Yes, the crossword was not too tough.
I meant to check up on a town in Isle of Wight which I had not heard of, but it fitted in fine.

Hi, Rusty!
I'm afraid that I don't know whether they all have a red light indicating when the water needs emptying, but it would make sense for it to be so.
I don't know whether this is allowed ( does it classify as 'advertising' - or just 'advising' ?) but this is the reference to the tumbler dryer that my daughter and I both have ........

I am at present watching Kyle Edmund play Mannarino on the Red Button at 601, but no sign of any other red button tennis activity that I can find...
I have scanned right through with my TV remote control, and apparently this is the only BBC Red Button showing any tennis.
Oops, that match has suddenly just gone over to BBC2 and now we have a different one on the red button.....just going to change channels to follow Edmund...........
Okay, back again...... you see what I mean!!

Rusty, thanks for seeing what I meant!
Elle, I'm sorry you felt I didn't grasp your point. I think my very literal brain is to blame. When you said 'if a Brit is playing then all other matches disappear... and one is forced to watch...', I thought you believed that to be the case. It obviously isn't!
I think there is only one Rd Button option just now as the tournament has only just started. Play hasn't even begun yet on the show courts.

Hello, Elle!
Sorry for delay!
I was watching the More4 programme on "Somme".
It was first class (thank you, Malone!) and I must confess to being very saddened by it all. Those poor men!
Very well made, though.
Now, to bring up the dreaded Red Button again!
At present on my TV, BBC Red Button are showing 6 different tennis matches at Wimbledon.
If I press Red Button, I then get a Live Tennis option.
I click on that, and get a Blue Menu Button which offers me a choice of 6 different tennis matches. Do you?
Your tumbly dryer looks the biz!
I shall keep it in mind if I go down the purchase route!

Hi rusty
You have 6 choices ?

I just clicked on my red button, then blue button. Only a choice of Djokovic v Ward, or BBC One (Siegemund/Keys)

Rusty, Eirlys - you're both right! I think Rusty has Sky (or some form of cable tv) and gets more options. On Freeview, the BBC starts off with two then more appear as time goes on. I heard Sue Barker say earlier that we (viewers) could 'via your computers and apps/Apps' access all 15 courts.' That'd make choosing which match to watch even harder!
