Hello, Elle!
You seem to have had a nice day out!
Yes, there are moves afoot for another Referendum for Independence.
When Cameron and the No campaigners came North they told everyone a No to Independence vote guaranteed us a place in EU.
The country voted No.
And in the EU Referendum every Scottish region voted to Remain.
Now we are on the way out of EU, unwillingly.

Norn Iron is a very difficult one but I hope to see a United Ireland one day.
Not so sure the Republic would want the North back, though.
So, a very eventful day.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, there will be many consequences - some welcome, some not.
There is a lot to sort out, and plenty of time and much patience will be needed.
Not least, we shall all need a new Prime Minister.
There are several possibilities......I think Boris Johnson may well be a favourite.
London voted to "Remain", but this wasn't surprising as there are so very many Europeans living here.
Our own borough only lost the "Brexit" vote by about 1%.
But on a lighter note......
I watched some of Johanna Konta's match against Karolina Pliskova.
Jo was doing very well to begin with and I thought at one point that she might win........but sadly she eventually lost.
She is a very good player though.
It will be interesting to see how she does at Wimbledon.

Good evening, Elle!
Lovely weather here.
I watched RTE News earlier and everyone interviewed said immigration was the reason they voted to leave.
Yes, I see Boris is favourite to next Tory Leader.
You can have Ruth Davidson if you want!
Yes, Wimbledon ahead!
Let us hope for fine weather for the fortnight.
I may have a wee bet on someone, who is not called Serena!
Does Martina Hingis still play doubles?
I always liked her, and Yannick Noah, and Tim.
The Rio cycling team was announced today.
No Jess Varnish or Dani King, or explanations why they were passed over.
Jess seems quite chipper though, her young man has been selected.

Hello again, Elle!
I have had a wee wager on Lucie Safarova, and on Nick Kyrgios.
Nick's Mum is a Malaysian princess.
I do not see Nadal in the betting?

Hey, Rusty!
I think Boris did a good job as Mayor, as did Ken Livingstone before him.
( I wonder how the new London Mayor will turn out?)
So maybe Boris can take over as PM?
Other likely possibilities are Michael Gove and Theresa May.
Now why do you want to get rid of Ruth Davidson?!
I see she doesn't think that a second independence referendum would be in Scotland's best interests, despite her being a keen "Remain" supporter.

I think that Martina Hingis and Leander Paes won the Mixed Doubles title at the French Open this year - so I am assuming that they will be playing at Wimbledon?
Goodness, you are early with your betting for the championships!
I haven't seen the Seedings list yet, so don' t know where Kyrgios and Lucie Sarapova are placed?
(Nick's mum is a Malaysian princess? Really? Are you having me on?)
No, sadly you won't find Rafael Nadal in the betting, because he has a left wrist injury and will not be playing at Wimbledon.

Are there no 'leading' questions asked when favoured cycling candidates for the Rio teams are overlooked?

Hello, Elle,
I like your new mayor, what I have seen and heard of him.
Seems a reasonable lad.
And Boris is a fellow cyclist, so he's fine, too!
I am jesting about Ruth!
She is entitled to an opinion on the Independence Referendum.
That is fine, although I do not agree with her.
She is an astute politician nevertheless.
Paddy Power did not have odds for the doubles yet.
But I will have a wee flutter on Martina when they do.
Laura Robson is 500-1.
Nick's Mum is a genuine Malaysian princess, yes, but she dropped the title when she moved to Australia..
I only read the briefing from British Cycling.
It gave the riders and nothing else.
And Trotty and Elinor Barker Tweeted that they were excited to be picked.
That is all I know, so far.

Hello, Elle,
Update on cycling.
Jess Varnish has just re-Tweeted a Facebook statement from British Time Trial champion, Hayley Simmonds.
Hayley has ripped into British Cycling for their disrespect and lack of professionalism in their selection process for Rio.
Hayley is the reigning champ and only found out she was not selected from rumours and newspapers. British Cycling did not tell her.
She was on the list that the selection would be made from.
The time trial spot is going to Emma Pooley, who has had two races this year! I like Emma, she is a smashing rider, but this is simply unfair.
How many more of the British Cycling girls are going to be treated like this?
Surely somebody should be looking into this!

Hi, Rusty!
I really cannot understand where these (seemingly illogical) decisions are coming from?
Surely, if Hayley Simmonds (I must admit to never having heard of her) is the reigning champion, then it would be logical - and sensible - to select her for the team for Rio?
So why wasn't she picked?
And surely it is only common courtesy to tell a competitor whether or not he/ she has been selected?
The individual concerned should not have to find out via other means.
That is disgusting.
And to offer the place to someone less qualified does not make sense.
I know I am speaking here as someone who knows next- to- nothing about the team selection process, but going off what you have been telling me, I am at a loss to grasp the concept here?
As a justifiably irate onlooker, can you not write a letter of complaint?

Hello, Elle,
No, you probably have not heard of her.
Cycling is very much a Cinderella sport on UK.
We had a British World Champion winning a race here last week and it was largely unreported.
Now, Hayley.
She came into cycling the same way that Rebecca Romero did, from rowing.
She has been in the Olympic programme since last October, getting updates from the logistics staff and info on anti-doping etc.
She rarely saw a coach.
This week she defended her British Time Trial championship and won quite convincingly. Dame Sarah came third (she is going to Paralympics) and in 4th place was Emma Pooley.
The 4th placed rider, Emma, has been chosen for Rio.
Hayley has been overlooked and completely ignored.
Emma is also riding the road race in Rio, the thinking being that it is a very hilly course and she will be a big help to Lizzie. Emma is a top notch climber.
Dani King was overlooked for that spot.
The sheer unadulterated arrogance of British Cycling sickens me.
I shall cheer on Lizzie at Rio, but the rest of the team can take a hike.

Good morning, Rusty!
A glorious sunny day here - lovely out and about!
Have you been out yet for your paper - did you take the scenic route?
I wonder how much credence will be put on this request for a second EU referendum? I see from my computer that there are already a large number of signatures on it.
It is being said that the percentage of voters wishing to "Leave" should have been above 60% and that this existing referendum was too close a decision.
"Authority" cannot move the goalposts just because the result is unfavourable!
The government will lose all credibility if something like this is allowed to happen.
Once a decision has been made, it should be honoured.
I don't remember there being any "Get out of Jail Free" cards.
Right, time for me to calm down, have a coffee....... and look at the crosswords.......
