Thanks chris. I dislike homophones almost as much a Spoonerisms! However, I concede "caught" is an OK indicator.

Actually the D word answer is not in my Chambers, the proper word ends in "ist"

No idea which ed mine is, sorry.
Anyone at a loose end this afternoon might enjoy "The World's Fastest Indian", on BBC 2, or record it for when you want some uplift! I think it is a lovely film in spite of (1) I hardly ever watch them but this was shown on a bus, so unavoidable and (2) the "Indian" being a motorbike (which I have seen in Te Papa, Wellington NZ).

Good afternoon, Elle!
Milletts sell reproofing stuff, or you could get it online.
I liked the golf, but the eventual winner was subject to an odd decision by the rules officials. Quite controversial.
Some of the greens were close to being unplayable.
Perfectly good approach shots were ending up in bunkers or way off the putting surface.
Hopefully things will be better at Troon.
But, as Jack Nicklaus once said, "nobody ever said golf was meant to be fair."
Have you tried Red Button for tennis?
Eurosport are showing tennis from Nottingham and Eastbourne now.
Duel and jewel sound different to me.

Thanks, Doglet.
At least I haven't missed anything.
I was somewhat thrown by their apparently starting with the second round!
Still raining heavily here ,too!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
Still raining heavily here....
I do have the reproofing stuff (and yes, I did buy it from Millets!)
I just need to get around to dealing with the job. Usually I reproof my boots about every three months, but this time I haven't done them since the beginning of Winter.
Did you listen to those recordings of "duel" and "jewel" that I put up?
To me they sound much the same..... both words sound as though they begin with a "J".
It is strange how regional accents vary so much. - and play havoc with supposed homophones!
Who is Carl Bridgewater? should I know of him?
You mentioned having a book about his murder?

Carl was a newspaper boy who was shot dead when deliveing a paper to a couple he knew on a farm. Four men were convicted and spent nearly 20 years behind bars before their convictions were overturned. One of them had died.
His murderer(s) have never been found, though there now a suspect

Hello, Elle!
It is fine weather here and I am off for a dander.
No, i did not listen, but one word starts with "d", the other with "j", which are different sounds.
You form your mouth/tongue differently for each of them.
Not a good clue.
No, no reason why you should know of Carl.
He was a boy who was murdered whilst delivering papers.
It was/is a controversial case.
Strangely, the last woman to be hanged in Scotland, Susan Newell, murdered a paper delivery boy.
I am not convinced Eurosport's tennis is "live".
One from Birmingham, the other channel from Nottingham.
Right, off for a walk!

Hi, Rusty!
I hope you enjoyed your walk? how far did you go?
It hasn't ceased to rain heavily here....just minor breaks not long enough to get out for a walk without getting drenched again.
I've been out briefly in the garden with the dog, in between showers; she likes to play ball so gets plenty of exercise that way.
The fuchsia are loving the rain! I have nineteen, flourishing in pots on the patio....unfortunately I have lost four over the Winter.
I think I will replace them as they usually survive for several years.
A trip out to Poll Hill garden centre needed!
No tennis to be found on any of the red button numbers that I know about!
