Hi Rusty,

The tit that was here last year also laid 13 eggs, out of which 11 hatched and all flew off the nest - hope they made it all the way !

Re Lilly of the Valley Day - as far as I know it has been a custom in France since early 20th Century for the flower to be associated with Spring and International Labour Day organisers took it as their symbol. The tradition still remains whereby there is Lilly of the Valley being sold at every street corner, and every one offers a small bouquet to family members, close friends, but also shop keepers may offer one or two of the delicate flower to their faithful customers;

In fact I am pretty sure that firms like Super U would have given one small flower to every woman shopper this morning, in the same manner as they give a rose on Mothering Sunday.

The Duchess of Cambridge was holding a bouquet of Lilly of the Valley as her wedding flowers.

Hello, Pigale!
That sounds like a very nice tradition you have in France!
I had never heard of it.
Mind you, there is an abundance of things I have never heard of!
Now, the Duchess of Cambridge?
Is that Kate?
I did not know about her bouquet, but I like Kate!
Is this year's tit the same one as last year?
13 eggs in a clutch is a lot!

Good evening, Rusty!
The family have now gone home!
We have a most enjoyable - albeit exhausting! - day.
The weather turned surprisingly warm and the temperature must have reached the late teens!
We all went to the park - and took a (mini) picnic lunch to eat whilst sitting in the sunshine!
We walked, played ball, and BB went in the Children's playground.
Baby slept through most of the fun and excitement!
His eyes are beginning to change colour now - I think they will be brown like his brother's and mum's.
I agree with you about BGT. I wasn't especially impressed by what I did watch.
There were two young boys who did some gymnastics - I thought (considering their ages) that they did very well.
And there was a group of five male singers - Vox Fortis - whom I thought were good.
But I missed the last fifteen minutes of the programme..... anything "strange or startling" towards the end?
Hoe did your horse racing at Newmarket go? did you win any bets?

Hello, Pigale!
How are you ? and the cats?
The 'kittens' must be nearly adult size , by now?
I am surprised that they do not go after your tits in their nest?
or is the nest well out of their climbing range?
We had lily of the valley growing in our garden, but they are dying off now.
The last of our daffodisl are valiantly soldiering on, though.

Hello, Elle!
Sounds like a good day you had.
I backed two at Newmarket.
One won, the other was well beaten.
What I have discovered about BGT, Elle, is that the best act is always on last, or edited to appear to be last.
Last night's last, was a young girl singing, who proved to be very popular. She had Alesha and Ant sobbing!
I am not keen on singers on that show, but she was good.
I think she said she had been in, or auditioned for, a London West End show before. I have forgotten her name!

Elle, update!
The girl was Jasmine Elcock.
She has appeared in "Annie".
She got the Golden Buzzer from Ant and Dec.
She is favourite to win with Paddy Power, but there are more acts to come.

Hi, Rusty!
If the best/ favourite act appears last on BGT each week, then I am almost always fated to miss it, as I record both that and Casualty, but they usually overlap somewhat!
Thank you for the update - Jasmine Elcock?
No, I don't think that I have heard of her?
I am assuming we are talking "Orphan Annie" here and not "Annie, Get your Gun"?
I didn't know that Ant and Dec had a "Golden Buzzer"?
I didn't think they got a vote?
Now speaking of votes....and wildly diverting from the subject matter......we are being inundated with flyers though our letter box, relating to the Mayor of London election on Thursday!
I haven't even heard of one or two of the political parties, let alone some of the individuals standing for Mayor!
Boris will be missed - whether for good or bad!

Hello, Elle,
Yes, you will miss it, but it is repeated on various ITV channels at different times, so it would be easy to record it.I
I do not know what Annie she was in.
You can see her act on YouTube, probably?
Yes, Ant and Dec get a Golden Buzzer vote.
Can Boris not stand again?
I get a postal vote. A lot simpler.

Elle, type her name into YouTube.
I think it is the third one down, and you can see her audition last night.
You may need tissues!

Hi, Rusty!
I shall check out my other ITV channels then, to see if I can find BGT - that would certainly be much simpler than splitting the Saturday evening viewing time between the two programmes!
Now.....young Jasmine...I have done as you suggested and watched her on Youtube......she was brilliant!
But there seems to be some controversy?
Because some people are saying that she is already a "star", as she is in a West End Musical?
I'm not sure of the protocol here?

Boris did not want to stand for re-election as Mayor for a third term.
He has been elected as a Conservative party MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip.
If my memory is correct, both he and Ken (Livingstone) served two terms each as Mayor of London.
Our Polling Station is very nearby, so voting is not much of a problem!
I have been reading the various manifestos...... many must have been written "tongue in cheek"!
It will be interesting to see what Thursday brings forth.......

Hello, Elle!
BGT has been on several times since last night on one ITV channel or another. Should be easy enough for you to record without clashing with Casualty.
I liked Jasmine, too!
Wonder what she will sing in the semi-finals?
After every show there is moaning about something or other.
I do not know if there are rules or not to cover these things, though I did think the Jules/Matisse act tried to con the public regarding substitute dogs. That was wrong in my book.
I do not see her as a "star", but a young girl with a very good voice making the best of her talent.
And everyone loved her!
Of course she should be on the show.
She may even win!
Though I am not sure if Alesha's mascara would cope with that!
