Hi, Rusty!
Yes, we had a very enjoyable time out, thank you.
We went to a restaurant called "Coppers" - so named because it is on the site of an old police station!
Baby slept throughout!
Afterwards we grabbed the dog and went for a walk in the woods.
We haven't been home long.
Goodness, that is quite something if it was hot enough for you to go out in your shirt-sleeves!
I think it was warmer here than previously forecast but certainly not that warm!
No, I haven't heard of "Hougham Without" !
(Er........without what?)
Is there any explanation behind the name?
Where is it? Is it in Kent?
I'd read there had been some controversy over remarks Jess had made about the coaches....was this why her contract wasn't renewed?
How was your crossword?

Hello, Elle,
This is my interpretation of "Without".
It is the same as "Outwith".
It is outwith the main parish.
What do you reckon?
It is between Dover and Folkestone.
Jess was 5th at the Worlds and did not qualify for the Olympics.
I agree with what she said.
Jess is a credit to herself and to British Cycling.
She is the latest woman to be punted from British Cycling, after Wendy Houvenhagel, Dame Sarah Storey, Dani King, and they treated Victoria P shabbily because she had the temerity to fall in love with one of the coaches (they are now happily married).
Vic was very glad to get away from it.
Crossword was a good one! Well done, Mr R!

Hi, Rusty!
Well, "outwith" sounds like a good theory.......it could well be so.
I'm surprised that I have never heard of the place as I have been to Hythe and Romney Marsh which are quite near to Folkestone.
I learn something new every day!
Yes, I remember now your telling me about the hard time given to Victoria as a result of her falling in love with her coach.
So is Jess a victim of injustice, too? I do not know enough about it?
BTW, what news of Victoria? how is her 'new' career continuing to progress?
I thought my crossword - the QC - was very easy today. I like a bit more of a challenge!
Some days it is a good one!
We had a good homophone though....I don't think you would object to it?
Virgin pursued , by the sound of it (6)

Hello, Elle!
Jess is not a victim of injustice, but a victim of an unrealistic programme to qualify for the Olympics.
British Cycling took a gamble and lost, and was rightly condemned by Jess.
She is now paying the price.
I follow her on Twitter, but she has not said much...yet.
It has happened before.
They seem to be especially tough with the women riders.
Not heard much about Victoria, lately.
No, chaste/chased is fine with me!

Hi, Rusty!
Oh, I see. Thank you for the explanation.
I wonder what will eventually happen with the Olympics?
There is still the ongoing problem over the Zika virus...and I read that only about 55% of tickets have so far been sold.
Plus the unstable political situation in Brazil...........do you think the Games will still go ahead?
There are so many problems......

Hello, Elle!
Yes, I think the Games will go ahead, Zika or no Zika.
Doing the "right" thing won't come into it.
Money rules.
No sensible person should go, if they are given the correct information, surely?
I had a wee look to see what golf is on at the weekend and was surprised to see the women are playing in the "Swinging Skirts" competition in California!
Apparently Swinging Skirts is a Thailand organisation and they are all mad about golf.
They took the name because they believe golf originated in Scotland and Scots wear kilts!
Some of them wear kilts when watching the golf.
Hope it is on TV. Lydia Ko is favourite to win,

Hi, Rusty!
I have just received a call from Australia from my friend......she hadn't received my mail about the demise of her fish!
So unfortunately I have had to break it to her over the phone ......all is well, though, I am not being held to blame!
(She didn't want to know about my method of "disposal"!)
She is coming home late Friday night, as her brother is now on the mend.
I was wondering whether the impeachment of the president might affect the holding of the Games?
But it does sound as though they will still go ahead?
The "Swinging Skirts" golf competition sounds interesting.......the ladies surely don't play in kilts though , do they?
Will you have a bet on Lydia?

Hello, Elle!
Well, you did your best with the late fish.
I am sure your friend won't mind your method of disposal.
I did not know the President was impeached?
No, the ladies will be dressed normally.
It is the sponsors who wear the kilts.
Lydia won last year, and is very short odds to win again.
So, if I do have a wee bet I may take Lexi Thompson to be in first five.
Unfortunately there is no Poppie's Pond for the winner to jump into!

Hi, Rusty!
The political aspect concerning Dilma Rousseff seems complicated?
No doubt you are right and the Olympics will go ahead no matter what.
Too much money is involved, most probably, for them to be cancelled, no matter what issues - political or health-wise - are involved.
We shall see.....
I have a dim memory of some other golf event that you watched last year when spectators were supposed to be dressed most colourfully - I don't think it was in kilts though? - what occasion was that?

Good morning, Elle!
Fine morning here.
I am not up on Brazilian politics, I'm afraid.
The Games will go ahead, though.
Money is king.
Here is a poser for you.
In the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, which event took place outwith Australia? It actually took place in a country in the Northern hemisphere.
Not sure of which golf event that was?
Sounds like a pro-am event?
I have dentist today for a tooth repair.
And the dreaded scrape and polish!
