Good morning, Rusty!
A dull, dark and miserable looking day here......but it is at least fine, and not as cold as yesterday.
Let us be thankful for small mercies!
How are things at your end?
I think I shall experiment with the online shopping at Sainsbury's later this morning.......
Fun and games!!
It can't be all that hard!
Progress, after all, is not just from sending smoke signals to possessing a smart phone......
Have you been out for your paper this morning?

Good morning, Elle,
Fine day here.
Yes, have a go at the online shopping.
I was out earlier, and am heading out soon a-visiting.
I've set recorder to record the first run of the giant slalom.
Puzzle was far too easy today!

Hi, Rusty!
You are fortunate in your weather!
Enjoy your outing.......
Whom are you visiting?
And you will have the skiing to watch when you come back!
I shall take a look at the crossword later.

Hello, Elle!
Fine day here and not cold!
I was visiting my daughter-in-law.
Watched the first run of the GS.
Mikela Shiffrin leading from Marta Bassino, and Federica Brignone.
Puzzle was a disappointment, I thought.

Hi, Rusty!
I hope you had an enjoyable time with your daughter-in -law.
And have now hopefully caught up with the skiing.......
It sounds as though Mikaela is doing well.
I have had a very successful morning!
Firstly, an item arrived, ahead of schedule, that I had ordered as a "thank you" gift for the friend who is kindly transporting the dog and me to the park every day, until my husband is allowed to drive again.
And then...guess what?
I have successfully ordered a huge shop online from Sainsburys!
Honestly, I don't know why I had thought it would be difficult.......it was really very simple!
And there were options about delivery costs.....I have paid £30 for a mid- week delivery for twelve months.
This is very reasonable when you consider that it cost £3 - £4 per single delivery.
My very first delivery is arriving between 1-2 pm on Tuesday.
Now, I like the crossword , Rusty!
I have so far only done about half of it, because I have been doing other things...but I am enjoying it!
I can understand your frustration and disappointment, though, if you yourself find it too easy.....
But remember I am not up to your high standard of solving!

Good afternoon, Elle!
Yes, daughter-in-law and me get on great!
Mikaela has won the GS, and races in the slalom tomorrow.
Was a very steep course today, I thought, but no crashes!
It costs £30 for 52 weekly deliveries?
Have I got that correctly?
That sounds very good indeed, to me!
Be interested in how you get on at delivery time.
Is everything there, on time, any substitutes, etc?
I'm afraid the puzzle left me a bit flat!
Too easy!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
A "Pay -as - You Go" delivery service costs roughly £ 3 - £4, depending on the day and the time slot.
So paying for one delivery per week of the year could cost you approx. £156.
There is an option to pay £60 for an "Anytime" Delivery Pass (ie any day of the week at any time) for a year......
Or £30, as I have paid, for a mid week delivery (Tues/ Wed / Thurs) and you can still choose your own time slot.
But this is not just for every week.....you are allowed one delivery per DAY if you so wish!
The only limitation is that there is a £40 minimum per "shop" (so obviously I would not be "shopping" every day!)
But if I were buying everything from the one shop for convenience - instead of shopping around as I often do - then it would not be difficult to reach a target of £40 whenever I needed a "big" shop.
It seems a good bargain to me.
We also receive Nectar points on our card, even when buying online.
You were asking about substitutes...
As I understand it, if the shop doesn't have what I asked for, they will bring a substitute for my approval, but I am not obliged to accept it.
I shall be able to tell you more after Tuesday!!

Hello, Elle!
The price that you have chosen seems very reasonable to me.
I'll be interested to hear how your delivery turns out?
I have heard of Nectar points but I do not know what they are?

Here's a clip about "Murder, Mystery, and My Family".

Hi, Rusty!
I don't know much about Nectar points , myself!
You can sign up to get them when dealing with certain companies, I think......
Certainly Sainsbury's is one of these, so we can get Nectar points on all our shopping from there.
I have now set it up so that we can earn points with our online shopping, too...and also redeem them online if we wish.
Thank you for the clip about "Murder, Mystery, and My Family".
I had to copy and paste the link to make it work...but it was fine, then.
The several series look to have been very interesting.....
Did you follow them?
I must just pop out briefly with the dog......her routine is severely disrupted by my husband's being ill
It is already dark.....
I'll be back in a bit!

I have heard of some hilarious substitutons, nappies instead of loo paper, for instance. But those I know who do on-line grocery shopping say the time slots are almost always adhered to, or they text/ring you. Watchdog had some horror stories of fithy vans/crates but not Sainsbury ones.

I tried Sainsbury's once when they had a "come-on" offer of Prosecco if you did a first on-line shop (I chose without delivery). I had to make the order up with some other things. On collection they had none of the offer Prosecco left and had substituted full-price. I was furious (an obvious con) and told them I wasn't having any of it and I wouldn't be bothering again. And I haven't.
One year a Tesco delivery arrived at our holiday cottage with none of the chilled or frozen produce we had ordered - too late to catch the shops (this was a long way from "civilization"). The van's refrigeration had broken down that morning and had they let us know (which they could have done) we could have shopped on the way, for our dinner, for example. They could make no further deliveries for 36 hours! My daughter-in-law really let the manager have it (for not letting us know) and received all the produce we did get- including wine- free. She's generally happy with the service, though.
