Hi, Rusty!
I have just come back from the chemist's.
My husband's further prescription was sent there electronically, so I just had to go and collect the meds.
A great idea, as it saves the additional walk to the GP surgery.
He has been given the same strong antibiotic as before....we just have to watch out for possible side effects.
Hopefully another week of medication will do the trick., and "knock the bug on the head"!
I think I have heard of Colm O'Regan...but I had thought he was a comedian?
I do not know Diane Janes....
What genre of books do they write?
Have you got any bets on at Kempton?

Hello, Elle!
Electronic prescriptions are the way to go!
Colm is a comedian and writes books, too.
He writes humorous books.
They are an acquired taste but I like them.
Diane Janes writes crime books, both true and fiction.
The one I ordered is a true story,
"The Case Of the Poisoned Partridge".
No bets today.
I just like watching the racing.
Everyone is well wrapped up at Kempton!

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, at least I had the right person!
But I did not know that Colm Regan also wrote books.
So Diane Janes is a crime writer....
I enjoy a good crime story, although more often than not, I read fictional stories.
The book by Peter James, that at I am at present reading, is such.
It is about a Detective Superintendent Roy Grace...it is one of a series of novels, with different crime scenes, but with an ongoing theme throughout.
I am enjoying it.
Yes , it is cold here as well as at Kempton Park!

Hello, Elle!
Colm O'Regan is very popular in Ireland.
He has written about the "Irish Mammies" and I like them a lot!
Well, you see, I had one!
Diane Janes appeared in several episodes of the television series, "Murder, Mystery, and My Family", I think it was called.
Was on BBC recently, about possible wrongful convictions in murder cases where the guilty person had been executed.
I am going to get her book on the "Croydon poisonings", too.
It is less cold here now, but a bit wet.

Good evening, Rusty!
I had to look up the "Irish Mammies" books, as I do not know of them.
Yes, of course, you had an Irish mammy......your parents would still have been (relatively) young when you all moved to Scotland, being that you were only five?
My Scottish cousins were but five and three, when the family moved to Scotland.......
but their mother's side of the family were all born there.
So she, in effect, was moving back home.
I don't know the television series of which you speak, relating to Diane Janes?
And I don't know about the "Croydon Poisonings" either.
Croydon is about three miles from here.......
What is the history of the poisonings?
How many years ago did they occur?

Hello, Elle!
I like the "Irish Mammies"!
The TV series involved a relative of a hanged murderer trying to get the conviction overturned.
There were two barristers involved, and a judge, too.
The Croydon poisonings took place around 1928, I think, at Birdhurst Rise in Croydon.
I read about them years ago, and Diane Janes has written a book about them, too.

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, I know Birdhurst Rise........I have actually been there!
Many years ago, when my parents first moved down here to live relatively near to us, I remember going to look at a possible flat there, for them.
They didn't buy it, though!
Birdhurst Rise is quite near to Lloyd Park, which you will have heard me mention.
We take the dog there sometimes.
It is a massive park!

Hello, Elle!
If you type "Croydon poisonings" into Google there is a lot of info about the case.
My Chromebook is back to normal today.
No reCaptcha bothering me!

Hi, Rusty!
Goodness, yes! there is indeed a lot of info....
I have but briefly scratched the surface so far, and already I have found another road that I know!
My granddaughter and her mum used to live in South Park Hill Road in South Croydon.
I wonder if they know of its "ancient" notoriety?
It is good that reCaptcha has pulled in its horns!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, a lot of info, and a great mystery!
Several books about it, too.
I think there are flats where the house on Birdhouse Rise stood.
I am sure the locals would know of the poisonings that took place.
I read, somewhere, that Agatha Christie based one of her books on the happenings in Croydon.
I will look forward to Diane Janes' book on it, anyway.
