Good morning, Elle,
Great day here, but cold.
Minus 3 just now.
I am just home from ASDA.
A strange one this convicted terrorist being released.
Well done to the public for bringing him down and disarming him.
I think it was children who were attacked at The Hague.
It's me for a warming coffee now!

Good morning, Rusty!
Dense fog here!
It is most unpleasant out!
We were promised sunshine......although a temperature of only 2C.
Your minus 3 is indeed cold!
I hope you wore your down coat when you went out to Asda?
I think I am now indoors to stay.......unless the sun gets overexcited, in which case I might be tempted out again.
I have yet to print out my crosswords.....
I think your idea of a coffee is a very good one......
I am off to make mine!

Hello, Elle!
A pity about your weather!
Great day here, but cold.
I strode out to ASDA wearing my insulated Sprayway jacket.
I suspect the filling will be polyester, rather than down!
Had an easy day reading the papers.
Puzzle done, too.

Good evening, Rusty!
We have had a much improved afternoon, weather wise.
The fog lifted, and the sun belatedly came out, about two-ish, and so we donned our padded coats, and our walking boots, grabbed the dog........and headed out for a couple of hours.
We are just back...in the dark!
Yes, I finished my crossword , too!
I have two parses still to do though...but will check on them later.
Inspiration may yet strike!
I thought it was a reasonably straightforward puzzle today?

Hello, Elle!
The frost did not lift here today.
Still cold.
Yes, I liked the puzzle.
Nothing terribly difficult there, I did not think.
I am about to watch the second run of the giant slalom.
Shiffrin is in 5th place after the first run.
She has work to do!
Petra Vhlova is ahead of her, and Petra is a super skier!
Should be good entertainment!

Hi, Rusty!
I should prefer frost to fog!
Yes, I think we have had it warmer here .....5C this afternoon.
Whilst you have been watching Mikaela, in the giant slalom, I have been washing my hair!
How is she doing?
I do not know Petra Vhlova.....I do not recall your having mentioned her before?
Right...now that my hair is finally dry...and reasonably under control!..... I had better go and organise dinner......
Have you already eaten?
I may need help afterwards, with those elusive parsings, please.
Back in a bit.....

Good evening, Elle!
The GS was great fun.
Alex Tilley from Aberdeen led for quite a while and I think she had her best ever finish in a World Cup race!
I think it was her first ever time sitting in the leader's chair at the finish, and she was there for quite a while!
But the winner was Marta Bassino, from Federica Brignone, both Italians.
It was Marta's first ever win.
Mikaela was third. Her best event, the slalom, is tomorrow.
I had my tea ages ago. Mackerel and tatties.
Yes, ask away, I am not certain I have 16d completely parsed, though.

Hi, Rusty!
I like mackerel...was it smoked ? I enjoy that.
We have had sausages and onions, with fried potatoes.
Delicious!
I have three clues that I cannot fully parse.
9a: Sound of Monteverdi, perhaps not 10CC? (5)
I have "audio" = "sound "(definition )
22d: Friend from that time protecting me (5)
"amigo" = friend (def)
But cannot see why in either instance?
And then the one that you mentioned .......
16d:A masculine home counties boy gone up north (8)
I have "dalesman"
SE - Home Counties
lad - boy
Both reversed - gone up north
Then I got stuck...
man - a masculine? (sounds a bot odd?)
But what is the definition?

Hi elle
10cc is a centilitre - CL
Monteverdi's first name was....?

"ago" is "from that time", but "me" to give "mi"???

Is 16 a misfiring attempt at an &lit?
