This started out so easily! I'm still none too sure about Les petits cochons. Is the letter-change really the second letter of the second word (rubbish!). Or have I got a dirty mind? I'm sure I have 12A and 15A, but can't parse them (especially 15A). And I have to change two letters, the first and third, to make the first half of 5D into the second. And there is a river, probably mutated in 7D, I assume.

Thanks. I had the answer, but I was still puzzling over that one.

And I was being too genteel with 5D! That's OK now.

12A Darkness (E....S) take away the E to give a puzzle.
5D Downstairs cleaner (slightly rude!) The first letter needs changing B to H.

Petits cochons .... What letter (at position 2) to enter at 29 across? Is it ambiguous?

Teenieleek...I agree with you on the beast, (although it's snout is supposedly B&W) - given Paul has, presumably by accident, used an identical clue to one from Genius 120 he may have had a wee slip here also....I blame the crossword editor for not noticing!!!

I'm puzzled by 18ac/19dn - are the first and last two letters an island and if so what does the resulting bird have to do with potter or basting?
