For all my boasting I must have 4D wrong (perhaps the order of the letters), so it's not -N-M-A- for 15A!

Pendragon: if you have 4D in the correct order, you should get 15A, right? I'm curious about what other name you had for 4D.

Do you have 13A, by any chance, and if so, can I beg for a hint?

I have the NE and SE corners sorted out now, thanks. I had BEN but not at the bottom.

And I would love to give a hint, but I'm still stuck on 5A, 13A, 22A, 2D, 14D, and 19D, with little confidence about 21D.

Just got 15A. It's a well-known orator returning.

there was a helpful little exchange between ixion and syzygy, which helped with 19D (for 'having no zip', think energy... and an abstract noun rather than an adjective). Having the correct checking letter with 22A makes that clue more straightforward than it first appears.

I don't feel entirely confident about 21D either. What is the 'stocktaking' all about?

OK, I now have 13A! I was sure that orator was in there somehow...

I agree about stocktaking, but why are the middle two letters of 5A what they are? Not IT or SA.

I did note the previous discussion about 19D without success, I'm afraid. I shall have another look.

Pendragon...5ac has a homophonic element(recitation) that makes it work.
21d is a double defn(sort of)for place to keep stock and a place to display(avoiding round)
