Thanks Rocky, and I agree "bad" is a tad strong.

9a - is you substitute "of" with 'who is' then the first 4 letters make more sense. Then you have a 6 letter "nap" minus its last letter/'short'

5d - 6,3 is "first shoe" with the 6 going around the usual 1 letter "time"

Finding this one a real challenge.
Forum hints were key in getting most of the answers thank you all, but still left with the enigmatic 12a (what in the world is going on there?…)

And 7d which hopefully will help with 12a.

Thanks Brendan. Got me over the line. 9a not really a word but I'll let Imogen off. It was a good clue from a parsing perspective but I think it's me today just not engaging. How 5d became my LOI is unforgiveable. So I take it back and say it was me who was not feeling it today and not Imogen.

COD 15d. Clever misdirection. Thanks Imogen for what turned out to be a clever puzzle.
