Hello all. I think I have the four word framework. But I have no idea how to get to the 15-30-7 (which I also think I have the word for). Help!

Also, 1D. I think I have it but cannot parse the second word.

Thanks in advance for any hints and tips!

1d - If you reverse/'about' the second word it means "cross"

I had a look at this one, brendan, and can now see the answer, but how does "grand entrance" fit in? I was working on the second word being GATE to include a G.

The first sentence in the preamble appies to this clue, with the definition being the last 4 words.

I don't think I will continue, Brendan - I've found the preamble now, and I don't attempt puzzles where you have to fiddle with clues/answers. I prefer to just solve a clue and write it in!

Ha ha, you sound like my older brother Chris. He said "I don't mind having to solve the clues, but I draw the line at having to help write them as well" 😄

The message from the extra letters should point you in the direction(s) of the framework.
If you take the single letters in the second element of the framework as illustrating the first, then look across every row, including those that don't have a letter in the second element, to reveal those cells that are in the right place. That will reveal the seven cells, which if you google with 15-30-7 should give you the right one.
As always, hard to describe without being explicit...hope this helps.
