5 yes, 6 no (the last four words are the definition).

Thanks again Jono, you've been a big help.

I think I was in two minds with 5d because the first 5 letters of the answer are often clued as 'drunk' but I can't recall seeing "drunken" which, as I said in my previous post, prompted me to look it up in Chambers, which gives one definition as "worthless, besotted" which would, I think, in many peoples eyes equate to "drunken scoundrel".

I had a a query against 6d because the definition could just as easily have been "for a despot", making "suitable" either there just for surface of as an extra word - I still think a case could be made for both.

But, at the end of the day, it was my error, so no complaints.

I haven't read the thread in order to avoid spoilers--but did anyone else find a copy with a lot of mismatches between enumerations and the grid, spend a lot of time thinking something extremely deep had to be going on, and then go back to the site and find a completely different grid with the same definitions and enumerations?

Somehow I had found my way to this and it was really doing my head in:

Having finished and read the thread, I see that the wrong grid was indeed up for a while. Unfortunately I opened the PDF and was working in that for a couple days! Certainly made things difficult, I had entries off the grid and partially through their number and also two unclued ones. Ah well.

Hi Matt,

I'm sure that must have been really frustrating and annoying, but don't worry. You'll be comforted to know that I, along with others on here, emailed the crossword editor to let him know of the many problems this month, so at least you can take solace in the certain knowledge that he will, at the very least, have the common decency to explain and apologise for all the inconveniences caused this month.... ***

*** It's at about this point that, were I reciting this to someone rather than writing it, I'd burst out laughing and say something to the effect of "sorry, I tried to keep a straight face but...

... well, you know the rest.
