For radial 9, the wordplay is a 4-letter 'cause the downfall of' + one, all reversed. If you're using the BRB, the answer is listed very slightly below where you might expect to see it alphabetically.

all @ 61/62/63 -- many thanks! The penny dropped between your collective assistance. I had of course misplaced an extra letter in an adjacent radial and now everything clicks into place beautifully. Teamwork!

My friend and I are attempting the Listener for the first time. We have 10 answers so far, and to be honest I’m amazed we’ve done so much of it.

Can I ask a clarification of what it means that removed letters are to be added “always inwards”. Does this mean that extra letters can’t go in the outer ring? Asking because we assumed we couldn’t and now it’s looking like we can’t find a word that would fit the checking letters for the last perimeter clue.

Apologies if this is asking for more than a hint.

Also, once the solution is published, is there somewhere we could see an explanation of the clues?

Symbols, including < > * and brackets, are used, but it's more or less self-explanatory. Start with the ones you already understand and the system will become clear.

There's also an analysis of each puzzle, with more detail than the solution notes include, and more than used to be customary.

The preamble means that the answer is always entered inwards. Sometimes on radials they go outwards or both or jumbled. The extra letter can go anywhere, including the outside ring.
