An entry can begin with the extra letter but in the case of 18 it doesn't.

I have 3 problems!
1) Cannot solve the first radial, a hint would be appreciated.
2) I can't enter radials 2 and 3 without ambiguity
3) I can't see the keyword in a radial, unless it is jumbled. Is it?

Tough to help much without giving too much away at this stage.. The 'keyword' is in a RING not a radial. It is not jumbled. The ambiguity does disappear!
I was stuck on radial#1 for a while. Try thinking about the clue as a whole.

All complete with a couple of final adjustments to tidy up the longer perimeter entry. Ith a pleasing irony, the last radial I twigged was 29. Many thanks to The Ace of Hearts.

I have a clash between radials 16,17. I’m very confident of16, so please could I have a tip to correct my 17. Also, radial20 is holding me up!

17-- (E)mir in abbrev for apparently, all reversed, giving an Italian word for chief (feminine)
20-- Def is first 5 words; wp male with its middle cut out + abbrev for daughter.

All done now apart from the ambiguities previously mentioned in radials 2,3. I cannot see the keyword in any of the rings - is it the actual word, of five letters, or a synonym?

I’ve just seen the synonym!

I enjoyed this puzzle but I have a quibble with the definition in clue 9. Surely that's not correct historically or geographically?
