1d is 5 for provoke with a letter inserted, followed by a mug. It's a shot taken before parting (on a specific type of quest).

Misleadingly, the "provoke" could have been clued using more of the letters of the solution. For example:
Parting shot to provoke, interrupted by Roman Catholic

Well I've been at Budleigh Salterton Spring literary festival nearly all day. (One dull presentation by Marina Wheeler on Europe and a fascinating one on Green Crime by Julia Shaw). I took the crosswords with me and did the quick and the quick cryptic over lunch there. I've got two so far in the cryptic. I'll have another look at it now I'm home and have the nenefit of hints here, but I'm not expecting to finish today.

I have done all but 3 clues, for which any hints will be welcome. There's an obvious solution to 3d, assuming the definition is the last word, but I can't see any wordplay for it. I can't solve 6d or 10a.

I did very little more. It was too hard and I remembered I still had 200 pages of my novel to read before my book group meets on Tuesday. I shall have to add Tramp to my long list of setters I can't get into. Bring back Paul.

Parse of 3d is 3 ("sexy") inside 3 (first 3 letters of a 4-letter word for "model" (v)). Defn "pictures".
