Hi Brendan

I've managed to get most of the SE corner including the two you suggested as a foothold and a couple more outside, but I'm tired and obviously not on Imogen's wavelength. I can't find many anagrams, which usually help me and am having trouble identifying the definitions. Plus the cat has had me pinned to the settee.

Perhaps a couple of hints will speed me on my way. What about 15ac and 3d? And what on earth is equine therapy? I've assumed that is a definition.

15a - "branch" is 3 followed by 2,3,1 with the definition as "animal"

3d - the "stroke" is a 4,4 tennis shot minus the usual "hard" and than goes over a specific "river" with the definition being "the way the oar moves" (on a river)

Roof, re equine therapy, the definition is at the other end of the clue. You put two first person pronouns into a creative expression for treating a horse.

Well I am making progress. I managed to get 15ac, which in turn led to 3d, though I can''t parse it. I have an answer for 1ac but I'm not sure if it is right. It leaves me with M?C? for 1d. But I got 5d and 12ac.

I have an answer for 7d but haven't parsed it yet. I'm missing 6ac, 10ac and 8d in that corner. I'm afraid I still haven't got 13d, 18ac and 24ac. Back to the drawing board.

I found this crossword hard. I think I am not on Imogen's wavelength. Thanks for the help from the forum members.

My FOI was 16d and my LOI was 24ac. My CODs are 15ac and 12ac.

All done but 10. Help appreciated.
