I see! Thanks, Brendan. I now get the wordplay. Still not thrilled with the blokey humour, but we feminists are notorious for that.

On the subject of last week’s prize by Brockwell where the theme was CRABS, did anyone spot that he has had two previous themes involving creatures with shells… SNAILS and TURTLES.

I take no credit for spotting this, Balfour spotted the snails connection and Dan himself reminds us of turtles puzzle.

What could be next I wonder?

Can't say I'm a fan of 15d either, my last one in.

I can see the qualms about 15d, but I thought it was quite amusing!

jono, I didn't make the Brockwell multi-theme connection, though I recalled the others once you mentioned it. Maybe insects are in the pipeline.

Surprisingly, the 225 blogger didn't notice the CRAB theme. Same thing happened with another fairly recent Prize IIRC.

Pleasantly surprised , after reading Brendan’s comment @1 was preparing for a complete failure. Haven’t finished but top half is complete and making progress on bottom. A very enjoyable puzzle so far although despite hints on forum am struggling with 16, ,15 and 17. No worries we have had first sunny day since I can’t remember when , NO RAIN! Taking a break now will come back tomorrow.

@Jono,

On the subject of 225, I was wondering if they know we over here exist. I only ask because on the occasions I visit the site, I don't ever seem to find names from here on there or vice versa. Plus, to the best of my knowledge, they've never asked anyone from here to blog one of their crosswords.

I hope it's not an 'us and them' thing?
