Well Brendan I can concur as with most Vlads that I am finding this a true impaling. As can be depicted by how dispersed throughout the grid my answers are. Thanks for all the help on 10a. In fact a brilliant clue.

I shall press on.

Jono,

My initial parsing of 16d was 3,4 around the "caught", you know... because they say ....

Thankfully I realised my stereotyping idiocy before too long.

Let's hope Malone doesn't see this, she'll kill me:-)

I wondered if my wits were scrambled by my morning parkrun (Bibra Lake, Perth, Western Australia).. To my relief and surprise I finished with what I'm sure are the right answers – although I would prefer not to be asked to parse some of the clues fully!

Bren, haha, I went down the same rabbit hole.
I’m reminded that Azed used “the noo” as a Scots indicator which is quite funny. I forget the clue.

Got it, subtractive anagram.

All this has reminded me of one of my all time favourite quotes from that Socrates of Glasgow:-

"So, life has meaning... except for viewers in Scotland"

Should have added that the philosopher of whom I speak is Rab C Nersbitt.

Like some others, I'm struggling!
Am I right in assuming 1a is a cricketing term?
