I was about to post that I had confirmed it by getting 2d. I had a dubious alternative anagram

Can I ask why that means 'sex' in 17d. If I have the answer right it's not the normal two letters is it?

I know, right Redpete - that's why 17d was so popular in the COD list.

I saw the Latin in17d, but shouldn't there be an indicator?

Stalled on my last two, 16d (which I see has been mentioned, but no light dawns) and the crossing 21. Any hints, please?

16d - is split 1,2,4 with the "caught" coming in the middle of the 2.

2a - double definition. 1st is "come together" and the 2nd is a homophone/'shouting' of a 3 letter "booby" (nothing sexual just a mild term for a fool etc.)

I'm having real trouble parsing 1d and 5a - can anybody help please?

All done. A real but enjoyable test from Vlad. Didn't really get on with my LOI 5a. Plus a few new words for me 19d and 4d.

FOI 1a. COD. A lot of contenders but I think 17d gets it now that I fully understand.

I think 18a is OK Brendan. It's more tongue in cheek than offensive I think. Though I'm happy to be persuaded otherwise.
