Thanks Mack - your response much appreciated. On 37a is there a misprint in the first word of the clue? If so I have a possible solution. 35d is still eluding me. Could anyone help by telling me how many letters are in the word that is to be unclothed? Hope I'm not breaking etiquette and keen to continue. Almost a complete grid!

Hi, William. Yes to your question about 37. For 35 unclothed means remove first and last letters, so you are looking for a 5-letter word.

35d definition is the first two words (with misprint), but even without the misprint they're pretty close to the answer.

I was late to this and spent a solid four hours yesterday afternoon attacking the beast. Some fiendish clueing from Mountain Ledges, which stretched my limits!

Just missing 21 across, which must have two clashes and totally stumped by it. Any hint appreciated.

May I request clarification of the preamble? I have assumed that the midway point will include the misprint and its correction, but haven't started that bit yet - going back to it this afternoon after my chores!!

21a - definition last 3 words. Wordplay is 3-letters inside 3-letters.

Bobby, re the preamble you are correct. If a is corrected to e the middle letter is c. All misprints and corrections are an even distance apart.

It may help to realise that any crossers from clues that have had a letter adjusted can't be clashes. I found that helped a lot in 21a
