Thank you very much Jono,

I hope you won't take it as presumptuous of me when I say I've been eagerly awaiting your post:-)

You’re very welcome, Bren. I’d actually forgotten it was today until I saw the new thread had started.

7a - I'm pretty sure I know which spelling is used (Chambers gives another by Milton) but, to be sure, can I just check that the word for "difficulty" can also mean 'concern'.

Brendan, I think you've extracted the correct letters from the wrong source. You need a synonym for "difficult". Yes, it's not Milton's spelling.

OMG, I'm such n eejit! I had it in my head the word was "diificulty" so completely discounted the 'easy' one as oppo....... one which, of course, means "difficult".

Many thanks Mattrom.

I suppose the silver lining is that I got the correct answer, albeit from an incorrect parse:-)

if I have 9 right it has to have a certain letter to complete the pangram and it must begin with "Ford's end" and the def is the adjusted first word but I can't make sense of Tesla and end up ...

This was fun until I went to submit...

I have 4 out of 5 ambiguous entries. These are all down. Together with 2 undefined these are the 6 down clues that do not have a letter removed.

As the ambiguous entries are "further clues" I assume this means that the final ambiguous entry is an across entry.

Prospero,
I took “e.g. Tesla” as a reversal of the last two letters. ‘Up’ applies to all wordplay.
That said, I haven’t yet finished…

Hi Prospero,

9d - the "end up" means it all goes in reverse, so, as you say, it begins with the end of 'ford' then just keep reversing for the next 2 letters then do the same with a 2 letter ,'Tesla eg' with the definition the adjusted first word.
