Unless I’m missing something and/or have got it wrong (entirely possible but unlikely given the crossers), 19d is a rather unusual clue and I’m not sure that I’d want to see it more often

I’m told this is the 350th puzzle by the current Everyman. For his 250th puzzle “CCL” was concealed in various places in the grid. The question is whether this puzzle marks the 350 milestone in some way.

I don’t have an answer btw…

Hi Neville,
1d is a homophone of a word for a prophet. Def is sizzle as in cooking.

I also am struggling with 1d. Can’t find any word for “sizzle” that is S*L*

Ianwil, your 9a is wrong. Look for another anagram.

Thanks Jono, I made the same mistake as Ianwil. I don't really agree with the definition though!

Thanks jono - showing my age!
How about 19d - I have “an unusual birth” where Pitt is a partial anagram - how about the other 3 letters?

19d isn't an anagram. Look closely at the letters
