Enjoyed this a lot, apart from 11a - I've never heard this expression before either, and I don't like it!! I don't think it parses properly tense-wise either, with the three letters for 'Everyman's'. Shouldn't there be a 'got' in there?
I'm still not understanding 19d though - I got it from the definition and crossers, but can't see what Pitt the Elder has to do with it.
Does anyone else think that 5d could have been a triple def?!
