An odd mix today of easy, obscure and quite hard. Rattled through it nonetheless. But how does 18 work? I have the answer but can’t see why.

18 is definition (read the second word as “re-presented”) followed by an example of kind

Unlike illippu 1a was my last one solved. Tolkien spelt the rabbit with an e perhaps? 12a took a while but I googled the obvious and learnt something new. Didn't help that I read 24a instead of 24d for the 2d clue thus scuppering the right answer that I already had. Thanks to Brockwell. Enjoy the Carob Beans.
