I suspect that including hiddens/partials (don't yet see any reversals), all the across solutions *could* be thematic, though a couple seem too far-fetched right now.

I'm with you on the acrosses Geeker, although one is a type of B????? which is then a type of theme word - so it's sort of themed but once removed!

Also, I can't find a connection in 27a but that's probably me missing something obvious.

There are also quite a few in the down clues but some are so obscure I wonder if they can be included.

Brendan, there's a thematic in 27a, but it's a reverse hidden and *very* obscure, though related to another across thematic.

I see 4 fairly clear thematics in the downs, haven't started searching for exotica.

Just tuning in from the Caribbean, where the night is yet young. Brendan and geeker - you are absolute legends! I think there’s only 16 themers here, so you’ve basically cracked it. Thanks for the support, as always. B
