Please help me in parsing / solving this cryptic clue -
" Best student, most daring, traps journalist smuggling cocaine (13)"

Ok, I got it myself. 7 letter word for daring, omitting the last letter, containing journalist (EDitor) with C for cocaine inside

I’ve no doubt you’re correct, bharat. I would say that clueing valian(t) as most daring would be frowned on by some crossword editors!

Please help me in parsing / solving this cryptic clue -
"Complaining about ward’s weird hobby (12)"

An anagram of ward (not ward’s) inside an eight letter word for complaining, grumbling

When you have the answer you’ll see why hobby is doubly appropriate

As a help, you could use this site. If you guess that the word for complaining ends in -ing, and search for all words containing the letters “ingdraw”, it will throw up 32 words of 12 letters, one of which is the answer.
