Thanks for the "pepper" explanations. Yes, a bit of a stretch!

Thanks Quisling for the help. It is a difficult one for me to spot.

It’s not an easy clue, Bharat. But TB seemed a strange inclusion if it wasn’t an anagram. Why else would it be there? And essentially often means the core of a word, so the anagrist was likely enough

Thanks Quisling. I thought TB to be removed from synonyms of green pepper (curing as removal indicator for TB).

Please help me in parsing / solving this cryptic clue -
"Bull discharged a bit of yucky slime on mouth and rear of buck (12)"

A tricky one. Gobbledygook, meaning bull, or nonsense.

Discharged is BLED, a bit of yucky is Y, slime is GOO, on mouth, is coming after GOB, and rear of buck is K.

How to solve it? A bit of a cheat, because I’m lazy, but the structure of the clue suggested it ended in K, (rear of buck). There are 174 12-letter phrases ending in k in Chambers, but fewer than 40 are all one word or hyphenated. Looking through them, as soon as you see GOO, slime, that has to be it, and the rest of the parsing follows.

I put this answer and it says it is wrong. Another word was Gobbledegook, but I prefered gobbledygook, as I could account for Y but not for e in Gobbledegook. Since Gobbledygook is coming as incorrect will Gobbledegook be ok or is there any other way of parsing?

I can’t see any alternative. Gobbledegook doesn’t parse, as you say. IMHO it’s an error. Not unheard of in these clues. I recall the “public house” clue being incorrect.

I may of course be wrong. If so doubtless someone will correct me

Thanks Quisling for your efforts. It gave me satisfaction that I could also parse it the way you did it. The answer looks perfectly okay . Will wait if any other person comes with a different answer.
