Well I'm afraid I do not share others' enthusiasm for this puzzle. I certainly found it harder than most other puzzles. It was a nice idea but for me the clue groups were clumsy and, I felt, sometimes deliberately misleading: some of the words were redundant, some of the synonyms tenuous and there were too many abbreviations. I can usually parse every answer but in this puzzle there are still some answers I cannot parse.

I too have mixed feelings about this puzzle but for a different reason. I enjoyed the challenge and the novelty ands thought the clues were OK.
My main issue is that we had the fit the four letter answers to produce a completed crossword grid, but we had no definition or word play for the answers in that grid.
As we progressed we were expected to work out all the possible words that would fit into these partially filled lights - and some of the words were quite obscure.
I found this difficult and had to use the Chambers word search facility to identify all the options. This feels a bit like cheating but I could not see any other way to get there. Huge respect to anyone who completed this without aids.

Smithsax, I only have a hard copy of Chambers so I had to trawl through that. One of my criteria for a good Listener crossword is that it's a challenge without requiring much dictionary or on-line searching.
