Relatively easy clues for cold solving; symmetry helps place the two longest clues immediately. Everything else falls into place from there.

Good fun, many thanks to Hamish again for a novel idea. Ilippu, try thinking what are the consequences of your (perfectly correct) observation.

Further comment about symmetry. To those of us who have dabbled in the theory of symmetry, the word can be interpreted in two ways.
1. Reflectional symmetry, ie right hand and left hand match, as do top and bottom
2. Rotational symmetry, where turning through 180 leads to the same form.

BuzzyBee,

Have 21 of 30, but haven't entered anything except central pillar that is unique.

Still have to figure out 11+ what, 6 + what and 5 + what etc.

You guys are very good to complete this so fast!

Illipu.

I have an inbuilt advantage in that the puzzle is published around midday plus or minus an hour for me in NZ. It took me about 2 hours with breaks.

Following on from my comment about symmetry, the form of the grid should direct you to which one it is.

BuzzyBee, thanks.

Just got the 2nd anchor.

I can now start entering some of the others....
Re symmetry, I understand.
In normal jigsaw, crossers help with unsolved clues.
Here it is tricky.

Also my bed time. Will look at it tomorrow, Monday.

The other clue which has only one possible placement based on the one that you already is "A smashing way to go!".

I don't get the symmetry. It seems to mean that if 6d were ABCDEF then 14d would be FEDCBA. But I'm sure I'm wrong! A hint please.
