Thanks for all the hints - would not have got 8d otherwise, and also had not been able to parse 28a (which turned it from a baffling clue to a great one!)

Found this Everyman a strange mix of very easy and really difficult! Some of the clues, like 14d and 20a, were very complex solves and had me head scratching for a long while. All very enjoyable nonetheless.

COD was 23d - made me laugh out loud!

Re Bren @ 43... and it gives 29A as a single (unhyphenated) word!

Agree with a lot of the comments here.
A mish-mash, some excellent clues mixed in with some awful and dubious ones.
Particularly dislike 23d and find it very dubious, and 24d - I do not believe that the five letter word can be equated to 'throws' and is definitely not in my favourite sport.

Good spot Phil, I just assumed it was 4,1,3 as given in the clue so didn't bother to check, but you're right, Chambers does give it as one word.

Eagle @ 47, what don't you like about those clues? I don't see how [doing the thing] in [your favourite sport] is not a type of throw.
