Yes I have the non-extra no-missed-out-word answer. I understand the progression. What I don’t know is how to start from the required starting-point, and where to make the first addition of the nature required. I have googled a picture of the required drawing, flipped it round every way, mirror imaged it, etc. I know what must be in the final square, so I know only a permutation which provides that correct entry can be my final square.

candlestick,

The preamble says that you need to draw 6 arcs. In order for this to happen AND for the second instruction to be adhered to, there is only one place that the first arc can end/the second arc can start (based on the abbreviated word in the first instruction). The preamble states you need to add 6 new squares but not where; what if the grid itself relates to the squares added in some way...
I apologise is I'm being ambiguous, I don't want to give it away too overtly

The crossword itself is excellent, albeit with a few clues/definitions that are borderline unfair, and I found it extremely challenging. However, if my completed grid & endgame is correct (and that is unlikely) the preamble and extra clue leave a LOT to be desired!!!

The start point of the arcs (in my solution), is very poorly given or CLEARLY specified by the instructions, and is a massive GWIT. As for the extra clue.....

Still, congrats to Hidewell, as even if my solution is wrong, it is still a very clever construction.

I'm fairly sure that I've got the right solution now, but I object very strongly to the sixth word of the second instruction, which simply doesn't mean what the setter wants it to mean.

Thanks for that, jbird54. "Read the question!" as they used to tell me at school.

At posts 18 and 20, the total of the numbers of the clues which do not have a word removed is given as 117. I make it 118. Who is correct?

Many thanks hotelwhisky7 for the nudge. The synonym for 'awesome' was lost on me and only by sorting the entry did all become clear.

It was all going so well until the extra clue which has had had me foxed for a couple of days now. I have not given up yet but need to narrow down the options.
I have made some assumptions.
1) that the clue is a normal type with a definition and wordplay for 2 letters of a four letter word.
2) as far as I can see no letters are to be changed and none have been removed from the grid so the two clued letters must be on two new cells to the left or right of the grid. I suspected they may have to be linked to the result of the last instruction but can’t see how.
Are these assumptions correct?
Finally I have constructed 6 arcs but only 5 new squares. My first arc is drawn in the existing square containing the original grid. Is that correct?
